Jason Zuchowski, LCSW has well over a decade of clinical experience with a guiding philosophy that youth and families are experts in their own lives. He has a collaborative and fun approach to psychotherapy. Jason’s compassion, good-humor, and open-mindedness creates a safe therapeutic atmosphere wherein youth and families feel comfortable to explore, understand, and unburden themselves of presenting problems. Problems are opportunities for growth.
In outpatient therapy, homes, schools, and community settings, Jason has worked with populations that are typically regarded as challenging or difficult to engage including those with acting-out behaviors. Some of the other concerns that Jason helps youth and families address include loss and grief, divorce, adjustment to blended families, social challenges, school struggles, low self-esteem, developmental concerns, aggression, dysregulation, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, as well as developmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Jason has empowered youth and families with these concerns to gain greater insight into themselves and develop skills to lead more enriched lives. He enjoys sharing in this endeavor with them. This joy is one of the greatest tools in his practice. Through Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Therapy, Jason works with families to build on their strengths with new ways to work through conflict, reconnect, and reestablish joy as a daily practice.
Much of Jason’s work is informed by attachment theory as well as developmental and interpersonal neurobiology (Dan Siegel, M.D.). He is also extensively trained and practiced in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), and ARC (Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency).
Jason has developed a curriculum for and facilitated a Boy’s Empowerment Group that utilized kinesthetic therapeutic strategies to assist boys and young men in improving their emotional awareness and communication skills. All the while, they fostered meaningful connections that helped them tackle the many developmental challenges and expectations facing boys today.
Jason enjoys writing, yoga, as well as backpacking and hiking throughout the Bay Area.
I wanted to again express my appreciation for your help and support. You have been amazing in contributing to my son’s growth and peace. I’ll take a little credit as well but only because I was able to fold in feedback and input that you provided. I very much appreciate your time and guidance that set D and my family on his/our current trajectory. You made a big impact on the process and I’m very grateful.
